Tesla roadside assistance hours for this metro couldn’t be confirmed in Tesla’s public materials. Don’t assume the app will send someone at any hour. Maryland’s CHART trucks, VDOT patrols, and Park Police also will not charge an EV. A local operator we connect you with still can.
Tesla hours aren’t something we can publish
We looked for a Tesla hours schedule that covers the District, Maryland, and Virginia. No verifiable hours list turned up in those public pages. Tesla’s app and Tesla’s own support materials should decide what’s offered for your VIN.
Hours and coverage are different questions, even when a Roadside button appears. An empty pack, a dead 12-volt, and a flat aren’t the same job. Don’t treat the words roadside assistance as a yes for every stall.
Phone numbers on old search pages go stale, so use the app tied to the car that’s stuck. Our note on the Tesla roadside assistance phone number explains why that app still belongs in the check.
If the on-screen terms don’t match what you need, stop and read them. Tesla may send a contractor, not a Tesla employee. Our coverage limits guide helps you separate what’s shown from what people assume.
What CHART, VDOT, and Park Police will actually do
Drivers on I-495, I-270, US-50, and MD-295 often flag Maryland’s CHART patrol. Dial #77 on those state primary roads. CHART technicians change tires, jump-start a 12-volt, add about a gallon of gas, and top radiator water. Maryland’s published CHART pages don’t describe charging an EV.
CHART runs around the clock in the Baltimore/Washington metropolitan area. In Maryland’s Western Region it runs 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. That clock is for traffic patrol, not a charge truck. The jump they offer is for the small battery that wakes the car. It’s not a 240-volt top-up of the traction pack.
VDOT Safety Service Patrol covers Virginia interstates including I-95 and I-66. Drivers reach that help through Virginia 511. VDOT describes incident clearance, debris, and short-term traffic control, not EV charging. Northern Virginia’s I-66 corridor is on that map, with shoulder and express work in weekday peaks.
We found no DDOT motorist-assistance patrol in the District materials we checked. Inside the District, a stall often means MPD, a private plan, or U.S. Park Police on a parkway.
National Park Service parkways wrap this metro. The Baltimore-Washington, George Washington Memorial, Clara Barton, Rock Creek, and Suitland parkways ban commercial vehicles and trucks over 10,000 lb. A disabled vehicle on the Baltimore-Washington Parkway is reported to U.S. Park Police at 202-610-7500. Park Police can help with a disabled car, but they’re not a mobile Level 2 source.
Pepco, Dominion Energy Virginia, and NOVEC publish home-charger programs. None of the utility EV pages we reviewed will charge a car that’s already stranded.
How to check Tesla help in the app anyway
Open the Tesla app for the car that’s stuck and look for Roadside or support. If a request option appears, read every condition before you tap submit.
Have a real location ready, because saying you’re on the Beltway isn’t enough. Note the direction, the nearest exit, and the lane type. On the 495 Express Lanes, Transurban says to pull to the left shoulder. Those lanes sit in the median. On the 95 and 395 Express Lanes, pull to the nearest shoulder. Transurban says to stay in the car until help arrives. Express Assist is a free patrol on those lanes. It helps with minor mechanical issues and will call a tow, but it doesn’t tow or charge an EV.
In a garage, name the building, the level, and the stall if you can. Tysons Corner Center or a Silver Line lot beats a vague place name. Bethesda, Silver Spring, and Tysons are unincorporated, so a mall or Metro name helps.
Describe what the car is doing in plain words. Say whether the screens light, whether it shifts, and what message is showing. Mention a flat, smoke, heat, crash damage, or a blocked lane. Don’t open high-voltage parts beside moving traffic.
Save screenshots of the request and any confirmation. If the option vanishes, go back to Tesla’s current support channel instead of an unsourced number. Our phone or app guide covers what to have ready for either route.
Your location changes who can even reach you
A stall on the Woodrow Wilson Bridge sits in three jurisdictions at once. The span carries the Beltway between Alexandria, Oxon Hill, and the District. The American Legion Bridge is the same pinch, with McLean on one bank and Montgomery County on the other. Tell whoever you call which end you’re closer to.
I-66, the Dulles Toll Road, and the Dulles Greenway are different operators than the free Beltway general lanes. That changes which patrol, if any, is already on that pavement.
If the Tesla is in a live lane, call 911. That’s an emergency, not a coverage debate. Follow what responders tell you on scene, and use hazard lights if they still work.
Dulles runs colder and snowier than Reagan National. Loudoun, upper Montgomery, and Prince William see more freeze than the inner core. Cabin heat comes from the pack, so sitting still burns range. The January 2022 I-95 shutdown south of this metro is the reminder: heat on, wheels stopped.
Plenty of stalls start in a shared lot, not on an interstate. Older apartment blocks in Arlington, Alexandria, Silver Spring, Wheaton, Hyattsville, and Annandale are a common pattern. The car sat, the 12-volt sagged, and the pack may still show miles. Don’t tell a dispatcher it just needs a jump unless that’s confirmed.
Once you’re clear of traffic, decide what the car actually needs. A tow, a 12-volt jump, and a 240-volt top-up are different tools. Our Capital Beltway out-of-charge guide is a checklist for documenting the stall without doing electrical work yourself.
What a local mobile operator can still do
Tesla’s app may show no fit, or CHART may have already jump-started the 12-volt and left. You can still ask an independent operator to bring a 240-volt Level 2 source to the car.
The pros we connect you with are licensed and insured. They typically add 10 to 20 miles of range in 15 to 30 minutes of charging. That’s charging time, never an arrival time. They can jump or replace a dead 12-volt on site. They handle Tesla and other major EV brands. The operator brings a native NACS plug, or a CCS or J1772 adapter.
Charge Pro DC is a referral line for the District, Maryland, and Virginia. We match stranded drivers with independent local operators. We don’t hold a trade license, own trucks, employ technicians, or set prices. The operator quotes you before starting and bills you directly.
Tell them the model, the warnings, and the exact pin. Ask what the quote covers before you agree. Confirm whether they’re proposing a charge, a 12-volt job, or a tow.
If you want that path, start with Tesla roadside rescue. For a stall that isn’t Tesla-only, use EV roadside assistance. You can also read what Tesla roadside covers versus a local quote. None of those pages replaces the terms the operator gives you.
When to call for a quoted local operator
Call when the Tesla is stuck and Tesla’s current path doesn’t fit. Call if a patrol has already done all it can. We don’t promise that an operator is available, or how soon anyone arrives. The independent pro confirms the work and the terms.
Call (202) 629-0844 and we’ll connect you with a local EV rescue operator.
